Earlier this year, members of the Morgantown Area Partnership traveled to Charleston for Monongalia County Day at the Legislature—a unique opportunity to showcase what makes north central West Virginia a driving force in the state’s economy.
For many, including Partnership Chair David Goldberg, it was their first time making the trip to Charleston as part of the Morgantown Area Partnership. What stood out most was the sense of alignment—everyone was there to speak with one voice.
Throughout the day, that united front was felt in every meeting and every hallway conversation. From the Senate floor, where Senator Oliverio welcomed the group with a formal proclamation, to productive conversations with the Governor’s Office and cabinet secretaries for transportation, economic development, and tourism, the message was clear: north central West Virginia is a powerful force in shaping the state’s future.
In a state where relationships matter, showing up in person makes a difference. These conversations help decision-makers in Charleston better understand the challenges and opportunities facing the Morgantown area—and ensure our region’s voice is heard at the table.
Monongalia County Day reflects the core mission of the Morgantown Area Partnership: bringing business leaders, community organizations, and public officials together to speak with one voice. By uniting groups like the Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Morgantown, the Campus Neighborhood Revitalization Corporation, and Monongalia County Economic Development under one roof, the Partnership makes it easier to coordinate, communicate, and move projects forward.
It’s about bridging the gap between vision and investment—so when our region makes the case for infrastructure, growth, and long-term success, we’re doing it together, from the local level all the way to the state.
