The Morgantown Area Partnership

Mission & Vision.

To assist or engage in developing, designing, financing and implementing urban land use plans designed to eliminate blight, improve conditions and prevent future deterioration in the neighborhoods surrounding the West Virginia University campus.

Sunnyside Neighborhood Mission: To steward a complete and balanced Sunnyside neighborhood by capturing and promoting development through the power of collaborative partnerships and the leverage of its TIF District.

Sunnyside Neighborhood Vision: Sunnyside will become an attractive historic gateway where Downtown and University life meet. Sunnyside is a center of connectivity attractive to students, young professionals, and neighborhood residents. Complimenting Downtown life and showcasing the river, Sunnyside is grounded in physical and economic sustainability to create a vibrant destination for living, dining, commerce, recreation and street life.

History & Revitalization Efforts.

CNRC was established in October 2002 to tackle Sunnyside’s growing housing and infrastructure deterioration. Since then, CNRC launched a Comprehensive Revitalization Plan to restore Sunnyside’s appeal and foster diverse, sustainable growth. These efforts aim to make Sunnyside a walkable, mixed-use urban neighborhood that balances student housing, residential living and commercial development.

Board of Directors.

CNRC, in partnership with City of Morgantown and WVU, is guided by a Board of Directors of local leaders, business professionals and community advocates dedicated to neighborhood revitalization.

The Board meets monthly on the 2nd Wednesday to discuss ongoing projects, new initiatives and community concerns. Meeting minutes are kept electronically at the Morgantown Area Partnership offices.
