Parks & Trails
Thirteen parks in the Morgantown Area are governed by the Board of Parks and Recreation offering 70+ miles of hiking trails are developed and maintained throughout the year.
Pedestrian Walking and Recreational Trails System
Two main trails traverse Morgantown: The Caperton Trail and the Decker’s Creek Trail. Together, these two trails provide nearly 10 miles of paved trails for exercise and fun. The trails also connect into a bigger system that provides an additional 23 miles of crushed limestone trails.

Mylan Park
Mylan Park is where the Morgantown community comes to play, train and connect. The newest addition to the park is the Peak Health & Wellness Center, a state-of-the-art, fully accessible facility offering something for everyone. Dive into the Olympic-sized 50-meter pool, make a splash in the family-friendly community pool with water slides and play features, or cool off at the outdoor splash pad. There’s even a six-lane lap pool, fitness rooms, and multipurpose spaces for rent—all designed to promote lifelong health and wellness.
Mylan Park is also home to camps and drop-off programs for kids, fitness and training opportunities, pickleball courts, track and field, baseball diamonds and community sports programs for basketball and volleyball. All of this can be accessed with a single membership.
Sports
For sports fans, Morgantown offers the excitement of Big 12 Conference action, with the West Virginia Mountaineers competing against some of the top teams in college athletics at Mountaineer Field and the Coliseum.
Baseball lovers can cheer on the West Virginia Black Bears, the Class-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, at Monongalia County Ballpark in nearby Granville.
