Even though the weather’s still chilly, summer is already on the horizon in Morgantown. One of the biggest highlights? The brand-new Marilla Pool, set to open Memorial Day weekend.
The pool is part of the Morgantown Board of Parks and Recreation’s larger effort to modernize some of the city’s most beloved recreational spaces—many of which are between 20 to 60 years old.
This year marks a major investment in upgrades across the board. The city is improving ballparks, pavilions, playgrounds, and even the Morgantown Ice Arena. But for families looking forward to warmer days, the biggest buzz is around the new pool at Marilla Park.
Here’s what you can expect when it opens this summer:
- Three water slides
- A lazy river
- A splash pad
- A deep entry pool
- And one flat admission fee—no extra charge for the slides
Admission pricing is family-friendly too. Kids under three get in free, youth and seniors pay $8, and adult admission is $10. Unlike the previous pool setup, all amenities are now included with admission.
While pool-goers get ready for summer, ice skaters should note an important change: The Morgantown Ice Arena is closing on February 2, 2025 to begin its own series of renovations. Planned improvements include:
- Mechanical upgrades
- Roof and exterior repairs
- New public restrooms
- A refreshed interior
- Updates to the boards around the rink
The Ice Arena is expected to reopen in October 2025, just in time for the start of the next skating season.
Whether you’re dreaming of pool days or perfecting your skating routine, Morgantown is investing in the future of recreation—for residents of all ages. Stay tuned for more updates as summer approaches!
