Morgantown ReStored

Morgantown ReStored<br />

Morgantown ReStored reinvigorates the heart of our city by activating empty downtown storefronts. We use creative exhibits and attractive signage to transform underused spaces and showcase each property’s potential. Our goal is to enliven the downtown while working to pair empty spaces with successful businesses.

We currently focus on three types of properties:

Long-term vacancies – These present opportunities for art, history, and other displays, as well as pop-up events.
In transition – After one business closes, we offer attractive printed paper to cover storefront windows until another business opens.
Coming soon – When a new business rents a space but is not yet ready to open, we offer a well-designed, branded “Coming Soon!” sign to generate early interest.

Where Can You Participate?

Current long-term exhibitions include:

  • 141 High Street (next to the historic Warner Theatre) – Rotating art exhibit
  • 228 High Street (next to the Dollar General) – Rotating art exhibit
  • 180 Willey Street – Art Lab Pop Up, which focuses on interactive art projects, demonstrations, and exhibits

Who Can Participate?

  • Artists who make vibrant work that will be visible from across the street and can be hung on flat walls can apply here. Exhibitions currently run for a minimum of 2 months.
  • Individuals or groups who would like to offer a demonstration, exhibit, or performance at the Art Lab can apply here. The next Art Lab Pop-up will take place from 6-9 pm, as a participating location in First Friday for the Arts.
  • Property owners who would like to offer their storefront as a participating location can apply here.
