The West Virginia University-Greater Morgantown Safe Community became the 28th community in the United States to be designated as an accredited Safe Community. We are the 1st global Safe Community, and unique to the United States, because of our collaboration between a city, county and institution of higher learning in our efforts to prevent injury and death due to accidents. Recently, we were 1 of top 50 communities in the United States to receive an award from Aetna, American Public Health Association and the National Association of Counties for our efforts to make our community a safer, healthier place to live.
