The Morgantown Area Partnership is proud to announce David Goldberg, President and CEO of Vandalia Health and Mon Health System, as the new Chair of the Board of Directors. A longtime champion of both healthcare and economic development in North Central West Virginia, Goldberg brings a vision for unity, growth, and impact across the region.
“I went here as an undergraduate. I met my wife here,” Goldberg said. “Love being back in Morgantown. We’re thriving. There’s always opportunities to improve.”
Goldberg leads one of the region’s largest employers—but his focus as board chair is on more than just healthcare. He’s calling for a collective voice among business leaders to help steer the future of North Central West Virginia.
“One of my major agenda items for my term as chair is to try to get business leaders to come in with one voice about what the region needs,” he said. “So when we talk to our federal delegation, when we talk to the governor, when we talk to our legislators…if we can be a little more consistent in what’s the one thing we need to drive the state and drive our region, it makes it easier to bring the bacon home.”
Goldberg also expressed his excitement about the Richwood project—a developing opportunity on the west side of town—and his desire to act as a facilitator for the broader business community.
“While I’m in a not-for-profit at Mon Health and Vandalia, we still generate a lot of business and employ a lot of people,” he said. “Hospitals like ours and WVU Medicine, Ruby, are some of the largest employers in the state. We know a thing or two about running a business—but we also have to be purposeful about the communities we serve.”
As chair, Goldberg follows in the footsteps of respected leaders like Sarah Woodrum, Craig Walker, and many others who have shaped Morgantown’s economic future.
“These are giants of our community who have given back,” Goldberg said. “I hope I can do my small part to make it that much better for the business community and the community we serve.”
