In celebration of Main Street Morgantown’s 40th anniversary, the Partnership rolled out a vibrant events calendar featuring over 40 activities that showcased the creativity, energy, and passion of our community. This was achieved through Main Street’s new Affiliate Events Program.
“We saw a huge increase in traffic through the business here at the guitar shop,” said Andrew White, Owner of Andrew White Guitars and Board President of Main Street Morgantown, “and we watched it downtown at other stores, too. It was a great success.”
Thanks to the launch of the Affiliate Events Program, local event organizers were able to get additional support from Main Street to bring their visions to life. From pop-up concerts and arts festivals to block parties and zombie crawls, this program helped remove some of the biggest barriers to event planning, such as access to venues, equipment, and promotional tools.
In October, for example, multiple events—First Friday for the Arts, Main Street Morgantown’s Art Walk, and the Morgantown Art Party Zombie Crawl—joined forces for a weekend of art, music, and mayhem. The result? Audiences who may have only come for one experience found themselves immersed in three. It’s the kind of synergy that not only boosts attendance but also builds stronger connections across our creative community.
“Let’s not be silos, where we’re all doing our own thing,” said Pascha Adamo, organizer of the Moonlight Market. “Let’s make sure we’re all communicating so that when we bring something to downtown, everyone knows of it. We’re not competing. We’re encouraging and supporting one another.”
Main Street Morgantown and the Morgantown Area Partnership provided behind-the-scenes support: everything from tents and sandwich boards to vendor coordination and food trucks. Over 50 vendors lined the streets during that October weekend, while live music and family-friendly activities created a festival atmosphere.
